Sucheta means a person who is always alert and with a good mind. Sucheta Kripalani was worthy of her name.
A freedom fighter, first woman chief minister, a drafter of the Constitution and a path-breaker for women everywhere.
Sucheta was born to be a leader. In one of her ‘unfinished book’, she has mentioned the fact that she and her sister used to hear about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and to vent their anger towards Britishers against the Anglo-Indian children who played with them. After learning about the Britisher’s actions towards India, Sulekha was always desperate to join India’s burgeoning Independence movement.
Sucheta was an integral member of the freedom struggle working closely with Gandhiji. Sucheta came to the forefront when she joined Quit India Movement with other great women fighters in 1942. She is also an avid believer of participation of women in Indian politics.
We should be inspired by such women and try to be bold and independent in mind, beautiful at heart and be an integral part of the society.
